*Accelerate slowly when traveling on snow or ice. Turn the wheel in same direction if you start to skid. Take your foot off the gas if your tires spin.

 *When on snow or ice, keep a greater distance between your car and the car ahead of you. Begin slowing the vehicle sooner than you would in normal driving conditions.

  4. Be aware that exit ramps are an even greater challenge during the winter since they may have received less anti-icing material than the main road.
  5. Don’t use the “cruise control” option driving in wintry conditions. Even roads that appear clear can have sudden slippery spots and the slightest touch of your brakes to deactivate the cruise control can cause you to lose control of your vehicle.
  6. Remember that, if you are driving a four wheel drive vehicle, the vehicle may help you get going quicker but it won’t help you stop any quicker. Many 4×4 vehicles are heavier than passenger vehicles and actually may take longer to stop.
  7. Look further ahead in traffic than you normally do. Actions by cars and trucks will alert you quicker to problems and give you a split-second extra time to react safely.
  8. Remember that trucks are heavier than cars. Trucks take longer to safely respond and come to a complete stop, so avoid cutting quickly in front of them.
  9. Stay back at least 200 feet from maintenance vehicles and plows. Also, whatever you do, don’t pass them on the right.
  10. Seat belts should be worn at all times and please remember to SLOW DOWN!
  11. Beware of snow plows!

WINSTON SALEM, NC — December 27th, 2010 — Frank Myers Auto Maxx has been chosen as one of the dealerships participating in the NEW “Cash For Carolina Clunkers” program. Details about the upcoming CASH FOR CAROLINA CLUNKERS program have been announced, following up on the car-buying frenzy of last year’s government-sponsored program.

Under the NEW “Cash for Clunkers Carolina” or “Carolina Clunkers” program, consumers receive up to $4,500 more for their vehicle than it’s worth when they trade in their old vehicle and purchase any qualifying vehicle from any participating dealership.

In order to be eligible for the program, the trade-in passenger vehicle must be in drivable condition. Transactions must be made between Dec 27, 2010 and Jan 22, 2011. This is a limited time sale promotion.

FUNDING FOR THE PROGRAM

The CASH FOR CAROLINA CLUNKERS or CAROLINA CLUNKERS program is a privately funded program that helps consumers buy a pre-owned vehicle from a participating dealer when they trade in a “clunker” car or truck. The program is designed to energize the economy, boost auto sales and put safer vehicles on North Carolina roadways. No local, state or federal tax dollars are being used to fund this program.

And although the entire new car industry is still suffering from the downfall of the economy, the automotive manufacturers continue to launch a newer, better, faster cars every year. 2011 Ford Fiesta in Winston Salem

The Ford Fiesta is one of the most anticipated cars of 2011. It has been on sale in Europe since 2008. Now North America finally has their own version of this popular small car – and early test drives show it doesn’t disappoint.
